About Karla

Hi! My name is Karla. Given that my last name is Bojić (diminutive of the word "color") and I am part of the Rainbows and Clouds, I will introduce myself through colors. Although all colors are more or less beautiful to me, I like blue and purple the most, which might not be obvious  because black is the predominant color in my outfits (but this is potentially due to my lack of creativity in dressing). I have a naturally red hair that has  a life of its own, as it arbitrarily changes its shade through the seasons. Recently it also started to throw in some gray tones. Genetically, I have a yellowish skin pigment, so on one occasion in early childhood, my palms turned completely orange after I ate too many tangerines (true story!).

If I were a color, I would say that I am light yellow; not that intense, energetic, powerful yellow, but not a pale and lukewarm one either, but something in between. I would like to identify with that gentle, mild and warm shade of yellow, which instills security and comfort. A shade that is mostly somewhere in the background in a wide spectrum of colors, not particularly striking in itself, but still important, because it helps other colors come to the fore; it highlights their hue and puts their full potential and beauty in the foreground.

Karla Bojić, psychologist at Duga i oblaka, d.o.o. for psychological counseling located in Dubrava (Zagreb)

I strive to be like that as a person and as a psychologist. I am here to be a support: someone with whom a person will feel safe and free to lower their shields and allow me to look inside, after which we will work together through the obstacles that come along the way, learning and practicing how to be stronger, happier and a more satisfied version of ourselves. That path is not always easy and simple; it's normal to "get upset" sometimes, get a little lost, sit on the side and take a breather... However, I will be that tailwind at the back that will put a person back on his feet, encourage him to bravely move on and arm him with the tools to overcome the upcoming barricades.

In order to be that companion who shouts out words of encouragement and guidance, I use the knowledge that I have continuously acquired since 2017, when I enrolled in psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka. From my earliest student days, when we were just introducing ourselves and talking roughly about what we were interested in, I already firmly knew that I would be a clinical psychologist. I was very persistent in my plan, so during my studies I engaged in various volunteering activities, in order to get as close as possible to the profession, gain experience and hone my counseling skills. As soon as I passed all the exams, I enrolled in my senior year and immediately threw myself into professional education, which helped shape me into the counselor I am today.

So, for example, in 2023, I attended a workshop based on the principles of Integrative Gestalt psychotherapy and completed a mindfulness course. In July of the same year, I defended my thesis and just a few months later I got a job in the Karlovac Women's Group "Korak", where I worked for a little over a year in the Shelter and Counseling Center for women and children victims of domestic violence. Since December 2024, I have been employed at the Croatian Institute for Social Work, in the Sesvete Regional Office.

The work on my counseling and therapeutic skills and competencies has not stopped. The entire year 2024 was filled with participation in numerous trainings, such as counseling skills training, introduction to working with associative maps, trainings intended for psychologists who work with victims of violence ("Support and help after traumatic events", "Loss and support in the grieving process ", education for working with victims of criminal acts) and therapeutic writing workshops. However, what I would particularly emphasize as my base and main guide in my work is the education in behavioral-cognitive therapies: I am currently attending the second degree and plan to engage in many other counselling courses.

I study diligently and persistently develop my skills because I like counseling and psychotherapy and I want to help as much as possible to everyone who puts their trust in me. It would be an honor and a great happiness for me if I could be the one who will walk beside you and help you reach the flag at your finish line.
